Stanley Pickle (2010) is a short animated film directed by Victoria Mather and produced at the National Film and Television School, UK. The film uses a technique called ‘Pixilation’, where actors are animated as opposed to stop-motion puppets. Stanley Pickle was shot frame by frame on two sets and two locations, using a stills camera and Dragon Stop-Motion Software.
The film premièred at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2010 and picked up the prestigious McLaren Award for New British Animation. Stanley Pickle has been officially selected for numerous festivals worldwide and so far has won 32 international awards, making it the most awarded film in NFTS history. Stanley Pickle has been broadcast on French TV (Canal Plus for Mickrociné) and Spanish TV (Canal Plus Xtra HD). Stanley Pickle was one of the 33 animated short films that qualified for the 2010 Academy Awards.
