Stanley Pickle is the 2010 winner of the EIFF McLaren Animation Award !!

We are all so happy and humbled by this wonder full news!

Director of Photography John Lee, Writer Orhan Boztas and Director Victoria Mather, embarked on an adventure to Edinburgh International Film Festival, armed with Industry passes and a hand full of postcards.

Delegate Passes

Stanley Pickle screened as part of McLaren Animation 1 amongst some beautiful films, all of a very high standard. Amongst them some of our class mates Jens Blank with ‘Cooked’ and Elena Pomares with ‘The Hen House‘.

We took a walk down the red carpet, which was scattered with performers, and watched ‘The Illusionist’ the new Jaques Tati adaptation film by Sylvain Chomet. After spending only five minutes in Edinburgh we saw our entire journey and observation of the city contained in this beautiful film.

Victoria took part in a Q&A along side Emma Lazenby, director of the BAFTA award winning ‘Mother of Many’, as part of the Media Day for Schools, as well as a smaller Q&A for Creative Identities – “Meet the Short Filmmakers” We had an enthusiastic and positive response from both audiences !

After all the screenings and festival fun we set off home to wind down …for at least five hours…until…Victoria was flown back to Edinburgh, courtesy of the festival, to pick up the McLaren Animation Award !!!

The awards took place in a Penthouse on Bread St, with a free bar and a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. Victoria Mather and Orhan Boztas (writer) are pictured below accepting the award.

It is such an honour since Norman McLaren was such an innovative animator and inspiration to us during pre production.

Victoria would like to express her thanks and appreciation to the cast and crew of Stanley Pickle, the NFTS, EIFF and most importantly the audience that attended the public screenings with fresh eyes and voted for Stanley Pickle. WE SALUTE YOU !
